Wasl Tower by Wasl Group in Dubai
Wasl Tower, Wasl's latest iconic skyscraper in the heart of Dubai, is a stunning development that offers a mix of residences, a penthouse, office spaces, event venues, dining options, and parking facilities. Designed by UNStudio and engineered by Werner Sobek, this tower is a true architectural masterpiece.
Rising 64 floors into the sky, Wasl Tower spans 1.8 million square feet of cutting-edge design within its striking façade. This structure seamlessly blends luxury with practicality, featuring 10 floors dedicated to office space, 224 opulent residential units, and 259 sophisticated hotel rooms, all contributing to a fluid urban living experience. Iconic skyscrapers like Wasl Tower, with their unique designs and towering heights, have the power to transform and elevate a city's skyline, leaving a lasting impact on its urban landscape. Set to become a regional landmark, Wasl Tower is poised to enhance Dubai's already renowned skyline.
One of the tower’s most distinctive features is its ceramic façade, among the tallest in the world, adorned with intricate ceramic elements. Clay was chosen for its aesthetic and practical advantages, with the façade's fins crafted from low-tech glazed ceramic. This intricate lattice not only provides shading but also channels daylight deep into the building's interior. The fins are set at a precise angle of 12.8 degrees, with their dimensions and material composition optimized through parametric design data. The façade is further enhanced by dynamically generated light patterns that harmonize with the city's rhythm.
The residences at Wasl Tower integrate smart technology for communication, security, and access, highlighting the development's commitment to sustainability. A standout design feature is the vertical boulevard—an open seam running the entire height of the building. This seam, created by a series of outdoor balconies, forms a green stripe along the tower’s profile, providing views into the interior and connecting indoor and outdoor spaces, offering a unique feature for the region. The building uses clean materials, adaptable lighting, and carefully designed acoustics to enhance visitor experiences, particularly in public areas where dining, hosting, and aesthetics are emphasized.
The design of Wasl Tower centres around its Z-axis and incorporates a classic 'contrapposto' movement, allowing it to engage with almost every direction. Its cohesive appearance is the result of advanced parametric design and cutting-edge engineering. The mixed-use structure, which includes offices, guest rooms, public spaces, and apartments, posed challenges in core configuration, but these were masterfully addressed, creating a unified and functional architectural marvel.
